Classroom in the Woods

  1. I agree that kids need to become more involved in nature. It is a great learning experience. Almost all core curriculum classes plus homemaking can be addressed.

I think that nature experiences are eye-opening, can build character and provide opportunities for team building. That is one of the reason that I have volunteered at Girl Scout camp for 12 years.

Although we may not have extensive programs such as this locally, there are several places within say 100 miles where students can have experiences such as this on a day basis.

However, if you wanted to create a program "locally" then there is a Girl Scout camp available for rent, possible staff from the camp that could run such a program, plus members of the Strange family which could offer a possible ropes course and water experiences.

Of course a canned day course can be found through Texas State and UT Austin.

If you decide to consider such a thing, let me know.
